15/10/10: Speed Dial 7 & Infesticons
Speed Dial 7 presents his album to the public on october 15th together with Mike Ladd and the Infesticons at De Kreun, Kortrijk.
Zucchini Drive’s Tom De Geeter releases his first solo album under the moniker Speed Dial 7. The resulting Short Rich Apocalypse beds the varying performances from the likes of Mike Ladd, M Sayyid, Passage, Rob Sonic and Pip Skid. These contributions are made cohesive by a hearty blend of De Geeter’s own vocals, and nostalgic samples that hearken to road trip delirium, ghosts, the circus and whichever basement you were hanging out in the 90s.
Short Rich Apocalypse gives a home to disjointed and eerie tracks like Slow Motion Cocaine (Mike Ladd, K-The-I, etc), catchy throwback numbers like Poker Faces (Pip Skid, Birdapres), and even a tight and rebellious version of Springsteen’s State Trooper (Passage). The gauzy and familiar production is paired with aggressive yowls, manic lyrical wanderings, and an in-your-face mantra which can be boiled down to the lyric, “ease up, have some birthday cake.” Give a listen for a compelling sonic experience that lands somewhere between listening to the first mixtape you ever made, and being aurally tasered. In a good way.

Birdapres! Update!
After his small Marathon of Dope July Canadian Tour, Birdapres went straight into the studio to record 18 tracks that he has been working on over the last year. Now the first mixes are there and a date for releasing his next full-length has been set to 14th of december. A single will be leaked before that so keep your eyes open for one of Canadas’ best.

Summer update 2010

For us this will be the summer that Pip Skid has been opening up for rap-heroes Public Enemy, Nestor Wynrush started his Tin Cup Marathon project and after the Eastcoast in spring, we finished our second Marathon-All-Star-tour in Canada. And now the fall seems to get busy as well on your favorit label..
First of all, Speed Dial 7 (Zucchini Drive / Cavemen Speak) is dropping his first full-length “Short Rich Apocalypse” on the 12th of october. Be on the look-out for that one. It features tons of incredible rap by Rob Sonic (Def Jux), Mike Ladd & Infesticons (Big Dada), M Sayyid (Anti-Pop Consortium), Nomad, K-the-i??? Tin Cup Marathon
Aug 6th @ J.Fox’s – Nestor Wynrush Ensemble & Maiko Watson $5
The first event of the Tin Cup Marathon.
What is the Tin Cup Marathon? In previous years Nestor aka Elliott Walsh has organized “The Give People Your Money Jams” that helped to raise funds for the Winnipeg based Rehab Centre For Children Foundation and Cancer Care Manitoba. Two organizations that are near and dear to him. Instead of being a one time event The Tin Cup Marathon will allow Nestor to raise funds for a charity at every event that he promotes or headlines (and a few others) for the next year. A Tin Cup named Lennox will be forever present at these events. Nestor finds running marathons to be very difficult, time consuming and not his cup of tea. However, He enjoys breaking a sweat on stage. In addition, Lennox will never complain of fatigue in his travels.
All proceeds thrown into the Tin Cup will be given to the announced charity of the evening. Tin Cup money (Lennox’s cash) will always be kept separate from the artists’ pay and regular door admission collections. Hopefully at year end there will be a few wonderful totals that will benefit those in need.
The name of Nestor Wynrush’s online label “Marathon Of Dope” was inspired by Terry Fox’s “Marathon of Hope”. Continuing on that line of thinking, The Tin Cup Marathon can be taken nationally on a small scale. The Tin Cup will allow a flexibility to raise funds for national organizations such as the Champs/War amps program when Ness performs in other provinces. The possibilities are inspiring and limitless.
I am currently waiting for the ok from the first organization that I would like to donate to. I will keep you up to date. Thanks for your time as always.
